Stena Line is one of the largest passenger and freight ferry operators in the world, founded in 1962 by Sten Allan Olsson in Gothenburg, Sweden. The Stena Group remains family-owned, headquartered in Gothenburg, and operates around 40 vessels on 19 routes connecting 10 countries across Northern Europe and the Mediterranean.
Stena Line introduced the HSS (High-speed Sea Service) class in 1996 and pioneered the methanol-fuelled Ro-Pax with Stena Germanica. Between 2020 and 2022 the company took delivery of five new E-Flexer ferries: Stena Estrid, Stena Edda, Stena Embla, Stena Ebba and Stena Estelle. Major acquisitions include Sealink British Ferries in 1990 (which doubled the company's size), the Northern Irish operations of DFDS in 2010-2011, and Wasaline in 2025 (which added the Umea-Vaasa route). Onboard, the larger ships offer cabins, restaurants, lounges, conference space and family areas. The Stena Plus lounge is available on most routes for an upgrade fee.

E-Flexer is Stena Line's modern Ro-Pax class, with five units delivered between 2020 and 2022 (Estrid, Edda, Embla, Ebba and Estelle). These are the newest large ships in the fleet, designed for fuel efficiency and modular passenger space.
