Naviera Armas is a Spanish shipping company founded in 1941 in Lanzarote by Antonio Armas Curbelo. Headquartered in Las Palmas de Gran Canaria, it operates as Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea following its 2018 acquisition of Compañía Trasmediterránea. The company focuses on the Canary Islands inter-island network, mainland Spain to Canaries corridors, and Spain to Morocco, Algeria, Ceuta and Melilla routes. The Balearic Islands operations were transferred to Trasmed GLE (Grimaldi Group) in July 2021 and are a separate operator. In August 2025 Naviera Armas signed binding agreements to sell its Canary Islands and Peninsular operations to Baleària and its Strait of Gibraltar assets to DFDS; the Spanish competition authority (CNMC) approved both transactions on 31 March 2026 and formal closure is underway.
Naviera Armas Trasmediterránea operates a fleet of conventional ferries and fast ferries on Canary Islands routes. Many ships are named after Canary Islands volcanoes: Volcán de Taburiente, Volcán de Tamadaba, Volcán de Tamasite, Volcán de Tauce, Volcán de Timanfaya, Volcán de Tindaya, Volcán del Teide, Volcán de Tagoro and Volcán de Taidía. The flagship Ciudad de Valencia handles the long 44-hour Cádiz–Canary Islands crossings; Almariya and Ciudad de Málaga serve Spain–North Africa lines. Note: Balearic Islands routes operated under the Trasmediterranea brand are now a separate operator (Trasmed GLE, Grimaldi Group) and are not part of Naviera Armas. Onboard, conventional ferries offer cabin, deck and reclining seat options, plus self-service restaurants, bars, shops and lounges. Fast ferries focus on numbered Pullman seating with refreshments. Accessibility features include adapted cabins, lifts and wheelchair-accessible spaces; assistance can be arranged in advance. The company invests in fuel-efficient vessels and is part of an industry-wide shift toward lower-emission technology, in line with its commitment to sustainability.

For Spanish routes, foot passengers should arrive 1 hour before departure and vehicle passengers 1.5 hours before. Customs-clearance routes (Cádiz / Huelva to the Canaries) require 2 hours. Morocco routes close boarding 1 hour before departure.
An unaccompanied vehicle is classified as cargo and is not bookable through the standard passenger flow. On some routes (for example Playa Blanca–Corralejo), unaccompanied vehicles are not permitted at all.
