Moby Lines is an Italian ferry operator owned by the Onorato Group, a fifth-generation family company. Founded in 1959 as NAVARMA (Navigazione Arcipelago Maddalenino) by Achille Onorato, Moby grew through major acquisitions — Toremar in 2011 and Tirrenia in 2015 — into one of the largest Italian ferry brands. The Onorato Group operates 38 ships, 33 ports and over 41,000 annual departures across the Mediterranean.
The Moby fleet is recognisable by the Looney Tunes liveries on its flagship ships, painted under a long-standing licence from Warner Bros. The fleet includes large overnight cruise ferries on Sardinia routes and shorter-crossing day ferries on Elba and Corsica. Cabins are available across multiple categories — standard inside, outside with view, and suites. Onboard, larger ships offer self-service and a la carte restaurants, themed bars, kids clubs, swimming pools, casinos, sun decks and shopping. In 2025, MSC Cruises relinquished its 49% stake in Moby as part of an Italian antitrust restructuring, returning the company to full Onorato Group control.
Moby tickets booked through SimpleFerry are issued as e-tickets. Vehicles must be at the terminal at least 90 to 120 minutes before sailing depending on the route.
Moby is widely regarded as one of the most pet-friendly Mediterranean operators. Pet-friendly cabins are available on most overnight ships, with options ranging from standard cabins to dedicated 'pet rooms' with pet beds and feeding stations.
Both are owned by the Onorato Group. Moby covers the leisure-focused routes to Sardinia, Corsica and Elba (and runs the Looney Tunes ships), while Tirrenia handles the lifeline state-subsidised routes to Sardinia and Sicily.
Civitavecchia-Olbia is one of the shorter mainland-Sardinia crossings, with overnight options around 7-8 hours and faster day services from around 5 hours.
Yes. Santa Teresa Gallura-Bonifacio accepts cars, motorhomes and motorcycles, with a crossing time of around 50 minutes.
