Santorini
Santorini sits in the southern Cyclades. Its volcanic caldera, cliffside settlements of Fira and Oia, and dark volcanic beaches make very different bases for a visit. Decide where you will stay before planning the onward journey from your ferry.
Naxos
Naxos is the largest island in the Cyclades. Hora combines a waterfront arrival with a Venetian castle above the town, while the interior includes the villages of Halki, Filoti and Apeiranthos. Beaches such as Agios Prokopios, Agia Anna and Plaka offer another way to organise your stay.
Milos
Milos lies in the southwestern Cyclades. Its volcanic landscape includes the pale rocks of Sarakiniko and the coastal formations at Kleftiko. The island also has fishing villages, archaeological sites and a mining museum, so the port is only the starting point for exploring.
Paros
The municipality of Paros describes ferry links from Piraeus and Rafina and onward connections across the Cyclades, including Naxos, Mykonos, Milos and Santorini. This makes Paros a useful place to research a multi-island itinerary, with each leg checked for your own dates.
Corfu
Corfu Old Town and its two forts form a UNESCO-listed historic port city. The municipality highlights the surviving street pattern and buildings from the seventeenth to nineteenth centuries. A visit can combine the old town with the wider island, but these are different onward journeys after the ferry.
Mykonos
Mykonos combines a Cycladic town of narrow streets and whitewashed houses with beaches and nightlife. Little Venice and the windmills are landmarks around the town waterfront. Decide whether you are staying near town or heading elsewhere on the island before comparing ferry arrival times.
Mallorca
Mallorca has ferry ports at Palma and Alcudia. Palma is the island capital, while the Serra de Tramuntana mountains provide a different setting for a stay. Choose the port as well as the island when planning your crossing, because onward travel depends on where you arrive.
Ibiza
Ibiza is both an island destination and a point for onward travel to Formentera. Spain tourism highlights its historic centre and cultural heritage alongside beaches and nightlife. Your choice of accommodation and onward island travel should inform the ferry arrival time you choose.
Formentera
Formentera has no airport and is reached by boat. Its main port is La Savina, with ferry links to Ibiza. This makes the sea crossing part of the arrival plan even when your wider journey starts with a flight.
Capri
Capri lies in the Gulf of Naples opposite the Sorrento peninsula. The Piazzetta is a focal point of the island town, while the surrounding landscape and coast are central to its appeal. Your arrival plan should include both the sea crossing and the onward journey to where you want to spend the day.
