Fleet and onboard experience

NLG operates one of the most extensive Italian high-speed fleets, made up of 11 fast monohulls and one catamaran for scheduled service plus three historic motor ships — Santa Lucia Luntana, Patrizia and Ala — that carry passengers and embody the Aponte family's pre-war maritime tradition. The hydrojet boats are named after the destinations they serve: Capri Jet (1988), Sorrento Jet (1990), Naples Jet (1991), Amalfi Jet (1993), Ischia Jet (1995), Super Jet (1999, 580 passengers) and the recently added Jumbo Jet (2021). The 1953 origins go back to the motor ships Italia and Linda, with later additions Santa Teresa, Santa Lucia Luntana, Santa Maria del Mare, Santa Rita and Pola. Onboard, the fast monohulls offer numbered seating with reclining airline-style seats, climate control and small refreshment counters on longer routes. The catamaran M/N Picasso, acquired in 2007, runs the longer Amalfi Coast itineraries with similar seating plus open-deck access to enjoy the views. The historic motor ships offer slower, more atmospheric crossings ideal for sightseeing along the Sorrento coast. Wheelchair accessibility is provided on most vessels, with assistance available upon request at the Information Desk.

Booking, check-in and luggage on SimpleFerry

On SimpleFerry, NLG tickets are bookable in real time with instant e-ticket delivery. NLG is a foot-passenger-only operator; cars and motorbikes cannot be transported on the high-speed fleet. Passengers should arrive at the pier following the schedule indicated on the ticket. Some routes, for example Naples to Positano, require a transfer in Capri; passengers may need to change vessels and walk between piers. The shorter Naples–Capri crossing typically takes around 45 minutes; the Sorrento–Capri jet runs in about 25 minutes.

Pet policy

Small pets, including dogs and cats, are accepted on most NLG ferries when accompanied by their owner. Pets must remain on a leash or in a carrier for the entire trip, and aggressive or disruptive animals are not permitted. Owners are responsible for the pet's behaviour and the comfort of fellow passengers.

Frequently asked questions

Does NLG carry vehicles?

No. NLG is a foot-passenger-only operator. Cars, motorbikes and other vehicles cannot be transported on its hydrofoils, monohulls or catamarans.

How long is the Naples–Capri crossing?

The Naples (Molo Beverello) to Capri (Marina Grande) hydrofoil takes approximately 45 minutes.

What routes use the historic motor ships?

Santa Lucia Luntana, Patrizia and Ala run sightseeing-style services along the Sorrento coast and to Capri, ideal for slower scenic crossings rather than the fast jet schedule.

Are pets allowed on board?

Yes. Small dogs, cats and small caged animals are accepted as long as they remain in a carrier or on a leash and under their owner's control. Aggressive or disruptive pets cannot be carried.

What if I miss my connection in Capri?

On routes with a Capri transfer, NLG staff can advise on the next available connection. Passengers are responsible for their own onward boarding once disembarked at Capri.

Does NLG run year-round?

Year-round service runs on the core Naples–Capri, Sorrento–Capri, Amalfi–Capri and Bonifacio–Palau lines. Pontine, Tremiti and some Amalfi Coast routes operate seasonally.
